Soloman WS-622B Subwoofer Speaker System

I bought the Soloman WS-622B Speakers online from Itsbits computers on Ebay. They are promoting a real world business and the delivery was pretty fast.

Until I had these speakers I would have said there was no such thing as a three inch sub-woofer no matter what box it was built into or how much gadgetry pushed the sound out. I am still not convinced.

These speakers are a step up from my simple stereo speakers I had on the computer. I have digital television tuners in the computer and do a lot of gaming so they have had a good workout. I find that although they are better than my old speakers they can muffle some bass output if you do not set them up properly. Once set up they handle everything well although I am used to having huge sub-woofers on the stereo and these are nowhere near as clear.

The satelite speakers are small and a neat althouth I feel the design is a bit retro. The bass box looks slick until you touch it and it shows every fingerprint. The bass dial is almost hidden and the volume keys areĀ  recessed and not as sensitive as I would have liked. My old speakers had a place for plugging in headphones and I miss that as I live in a unit

Because the volume controls are not analog you have to reset the sound levels every time you turn them on which I also am not keen on. Neither the volume controls nor the base dial get a mention in the visual part of the instructions

The speakers are set up to connect to a number of audio inputs.

I bought these because I had a loose connection in my old speakers and wanted to get better sound without spending much money and they are fine in that role. As I said, they are an improvement over my two stereo speakers but if I was upgrading purely to get better sound and had the money I would look elsewhere. In the meanwhile I got the value I paid for.

More notes. The speakers do not turn off when the power switch on the Bass box is switched off. They continue to hum long after any source input has been removed and they have been turned off. The only way to stop the hum is to switch them off at the power point. I don’t feel good about that and I do feel a little unsafe as though leaving them on could be the cause of a fire or damage them!
