Rough Day

sportgalRuth took me to the Bay Village Mall on the day-before-yesterday.

The mall was busy. There were parking spots outside but you had to hunt for them among the moving mass of people walking and driving in all directions. Inside it wasn’t so bad. The buildings seemed to swallow a lot of people and still remain cool and calm on the interior.

I was walking with a gait a bit like a robot. The chiropractic boots put a lot of strain on the joints and muscles of the lower half of my body. They are a pair of caterpillar steel-capped, work boots. They are built up several centimeters on one side and are very stiff and unyielding. They force my legs and lower body to try to move with a normal human gait. My legs have been shattered many times and regrown back in a twisted way. My normal gait works around all the odd angles and twisted joints. Hips.too, are working on strange angles.

The past two days have been rough. The joints and muscles of my legs and hips were badly damaged by that two hours of walking. I would wish I could enjoy being like a person and among people and I do as much I can. It just seems a lot to pay for the next two days as my body heals and I am repeatedly overwhelmed by pain. I will be better tomorrow

The shopping trip was only short for all the pain it gave me. I had contacted Tony at Aged Disability Support Services to tell him I needed a hand and could not make it on my own. He contacted Ruth who organized a time to pick me up and get me here. I wish there was more stuff we could do but Tony had a budget and Ruth had very limited time out and I appreciate what I am given.

I am able, if I walk slowly, able to look very much like everyone else and I was concentrating that as Ruth directed me towards the All Phones store. I had had Wireless Broadband installed at my place and it didn’t work so I was without internet. We were looking to see if an antenna might be obtained. I am lost without the internet even though not many people still keep in touch. Their lives move on and they live among the people who flow with them.

We entered the store. It was all lighht and modernity with a lot less on display that I had expected. There were two beautiful new phones running television on the (lost the word, the place behind where the cash register goes) and the guy looked at me with an eyebrow raised. I slid the dodo wireless modem out of my pocket and asked if he had an antenna He did. $29.95

I will cut this short. I am in too much pain and only waffling anyway.

We had an evil dark coffee in the cafe in the center of the aisle and a quick look to see if there were any other antenna. The guy in All Phones was really good and as usual the staff at Dick Smith’s Electronics made happy that I cal;led in. I grabbed some simple cable ends for the television cable. Then home. Then two days of struggling with all this pain and stiffness.

A shower would be good and I will have one when I can stand for a few moments

The image to the right? Halekulani Lawn Bowls Club is just over the road from my place. You get a few medications and the occassional beer………
