Cicada Shell

cicada-shell-inkThe drawing of the cicada shell is finished. I guess the style is a natural growth from the stippling and the textured surfaces I have been making when I do paintings. It covers most of an A3 page and the ink is pigmented Art Spectrum. I do not know if that stuff is still available. I have had this bottle for over a decade. The paper is not graduated colour like that either. That effect is just the light and the camera although I may try and reproduce that in the next drawing.

The marks are made firstly by spattering some ink and water with a toothbrush. Then using a nib and holder. Then a sable brush. The colour comes from Faber-Castell watercolour pencils and Schwan Carb-Othello pastel pencils.

My stomach still has physical effects from this immense depression. It is not going to go away this time I suppose.
