Vox Mechanika and the Zen of Nature

Some of the images from the Grim City series have gone on the wall at Budgewoi Convenience Store in Ocean Parade to replace the Icons of Budgewoi works that have been up for the last few weeks. This is a very different look for that venue. The series up so far are architectural and almost photographic in their effect while the latest group of works have very high levels of symbolism and strong philosophical themes.I think they are a lot more fun to look at than the earlier stuff I had up but I have some trepidation about showing them when I do not have any idea what people will think of them.

Zen of Nature is on the right and the words ‘Zen of Nature’ are in the painting in Chinese characters. There was a period back many years where I was inspired by the works of Aubrey Beardsley and a number of print makers who did very stark black and white works. The influences are clear.

The scattering of mental processes seems to be continuing with an awful morning. The community assistant came over this morning and we headed of to the library to drop some books back. A few problems there although none were serious. We went to the Joyce Mayne sore at Toukley to see if they would honour the warranty on the printer. I spent a while explaining myself to a very patient sales person who calmly took the receipt from my shaky grip, held it to the light, and informed me I had obtained the printer through a supplier at Retravision. He pointed out the Retravision logo in gigantic red letters on the receipt.

We headed off to a lighting shop which had nothing I could see myself buying and thence to Bunnings Hardware Store where I bought a cheap hand trolley and a really awful spindly floor lamp to replace the one I use beside the bed for reading.

I was fighting mood swings all afternoon and spent a lot of time in a state of anger or something. I have lost my keys and forgot that there is a new time for the community assistant to get here so I wasn’t even up when she came.

My niece, Lisa, sent me some photographs of my Grandfather and his family. That was a buzz to see. There were people I cared very deeply for among that group.

There is some serious chest pain tonight. There was too much walking about and carrying today and I am hoping that this pain is just muscles in my chest rather than that big muscle we have been worried about. Actually it all hurts and I was just enjoying a dream-scape with a hot bath of pain relief and a forest fragrance. No bath here though!
