The Fish

The Fish is a large painting I have been working on for years. Now that I am feeling stronger the work seems to pass easily but the last couple of years I couldn’t even stand looking at it as it meant work I did not have the energy to face.

It is all-but finished now with just a few touches and a signature to go. I will be so glad to see it finished. I will have to write a little essay about the reasons for the painting. My thought processes were quite complex on this. It is one of a group of paintings I plan to make to pacify my hungering for textured surfaces based on primitive and rock art.

Being unwell dulls the mental processes substantially and the few other paintings I have started with this theme are not really satisfactory although they are still being made.

The photo is a little deceptive as the surface has suggestions of leaf and stem motifs hidden among the light and darks and I have not had the light available to get that photo but the image is suitable for discussion in the blog
