Manic Spam and Infrastructure Spending

alone_lowresWhat is it to be manic?

Yesterday the cleaner who was replacing the normal cleaner spent a couple of hours here cleaning the house and chatting.

Being manic is like being possessed. Some people actually drool as words and thoughts explode from their head without any real intellectual  control.

I embarrassed myself yesterday. There was no drooling but the explosion of words was without parallel in recent times. There was bragging, One-upmanship. One-upmanship is where one person is constantly interrupting another person’s points with “better” points as though there is a score being kept. It is like having a social death wish.

There was exaggeration and there was self-important rambling.

Being manic is not a form of self-delusion. Self-delusion implies some mental process with depth causing the condition even if it is a less than desirable process. Self-delusion implies the recognition that thought processes are occurring and includes a view of those thoughts even if they are not coherent.

I claim cabin-fever as another basis for manic behavior. Living constantly alone. It is not about loneliness. I am not lonely.

Actually I rather wish I did not have the visceral genetic need for my fellow humans because I can’t keep up with the micro-cultural norms that develop between people living similar lives with similar drives and needs. I can’t get that from where I am so I am “outside” even if I am within the geological boundary that population inhabits. That makes my life painful and awkward. I don’t work anymore. Even the art I do is limited to the periods that do not suck and they are not so common. I do not have a wife or kids, go to a pub, hang around with friends, go out…ever!

All that snuck up on me and there are mood swings common to these meds. My mouth took off as though there was no pathway to a single neuron that was not blocked. Very, very embarrassing when it finally stops and you get your self-awareness back.

Spam. I must have annoyed somebody apart from the cleaner. There have been about four hundred pharmacy spam emails sent to one of my accounts in the last twenty four hours.

Talking about Infrastructure Spending

Kevin Rudd is slowly becoming John Howard in another incarnation. The Government is claiming to be funding thirty thousand or more infrastructure projects in a brave attempt to push money into the economy and protect our future viability.

The Government thinks if they yell and shout their own praises about infrastructure spending every day in the Parliament we will not notice the emperor has very little clothing .

Including the opposition there do seem to be a lot of people falling for the smoke and mirrors. Perhaps the opposition are being complicit because this is the limit of what any Australian Government can achieve in the way of substantial projects. They might suspect that if they mention the lack of substance they might be forced to supply said substance when their turn comes to face us.

All of the Infrastructure Spending Initiatives seem to be directed at minor new works or maintaining and extending community resources like parks and schools Everything is being done to avoid a commitment to major infrastructure that takes future global challenges into account

They feel that showing real statesmanship and committing to real future needs will be political death so they have instead committed billions to maintenance. Not much more than janitorial works that have to be done anyway.

This is all our money until the year 2020 and beyond so there is a certainty growing out of the Government’s actions here. It will not matter if the future is climate change, oceanic flooding, increased storm dangers and droughts. We have spent the money we needed to make major changes in our roads and hospitals and water storage and delivery methods. Everything is alright suggest all our governments as our health systems flail about under the impact of a few flu sufferers. Oh hell thinks I. Please let the disaster that opens their eyes not fall here!
