Changes via Legal Aid

The lawyers who work with the people needing Legal Aid’s assistance seem to have a few bad habits. One them is to keep their client waiting until the week before the hearing to speak to a lawyer. The lawyer then dumps the client’s case notes in the bin and hands them an unspoken but clear ultimatum. You can do as we say or you can go to court alone and suffer the consequences. From this point the client has quite a few other things acting against their interests. One of them is that the lawyers do not want to do anything but get paid without any drama or stress. That means they will process their victim (formerly called the client) with a minimum of fuss and a minimum of attention to anything that looks like it will disturb the prosecution. Another thing acting against the victim is the fact that the lawyers and the prosecution and the court officers and the judges and magistrates and Police are all friends. Your lawyer does not want to be left out of the barbecue invitations so he/she will not do anything to annoy any of the others. You know what I mean. Your lawyer will not present a case that makes the prosecutor work too hard or the Police look bad or the Judge unhappy.

My lawyer literally told me to sit down and shut up and then he laid out the case as he wanted to fight it. I listened and because I am not able to think quickly I let it roll around for a few days before I wrote a long complaint to legal aid including the words. My lawyer lied to me and refused to tell me the truth. My lawyer. Bryan Quinn. This time I chose one from random and now am able to see that they are all the same and all from the same swirling swamp when you are a legal aid recipient. I had hoped that Legal Aid would call or email me and explain that the truth is an illusory thing and I should not expect the truth I see to be the truth everyone else sees. That is how we make lies seem like simple bits of misunderstood information. I know a lie when I see one and I may be very, very slow in life but I get there. The problem for lawyers is that I look really stupid as I struggle to make sense of things so when they see me trying to digest some simple information they think they can overcome me at that level. It works for a little while but I know I am confused and I have nothing but time to find out about whatever was confusing me. It sucks as a way of dealing with them but that is what I have.

Anyway that is what I see. Feel free to correct me or to recognise that a lot of us see it that way and unless you are on the inside that is what there is. Several emails were sent to Karen Wilson as my connection to Legal Aid and have not been answered. Basically they asked what I was to do and described the way I believe I have been treated by the lawyer. This morning I sent another email suggesting that Karen and Legal Aid are AWOL and I will deal with the problems by myself but I expect that when the hearing arrives it will be seen that I have been let down again by Legal Aid and am unable to get proper defensive counsel.

An email was sent through Bryan Quinn”s online contact form telling him that he does not get to lay down the law to me. He is on my dime (works for me) and will run my case or should call Legal Aid and tell them he is not prepared to run my case and thus quits. Either way, if he turns up in court spouting the same shit I will have him removed no matter how much they like him in there. I saw the lawyer on the 24th and the case is the 8th of the next month. I waited over a month to see him and that is why, again, we have a drama, they do it on purpose!

Thanks Caitlin it is really nice of you. I have not noticed browser problems with anything in years. I use Firefox and as long as all of the add-ons and things are up to date it is fine

I’m not sure why but this weblog is loading incredibly slow for me. Is anyone else having this issue or is it a issue on my end? I’ll check
back later and see if the problem still exists.
