Thurs and Friday with the flu

By Friday not much has changed for the flu virus. The head cold is well controlled with the nasal spray although it seems require less of that. The cough and the move into my chest by the virus is the same today as it was a few days ago. The cough serum is working on preventing congestion and with the sprays and steroids already working on the asthma that is held off.

You can feel all of those things. It is not like they have no effect now. DSCF8294 beach

The community worker turned up and did not want to risk taking me out when I was so ill. I won her over using the Ninja method of the long face, the trembling lower lip and guilt. It was close. She had to go in all the stores while I waited in the car though. That wasn’t as much fun as it is supposed to be. We went and picked up the radio from Karera at Tuggerah. It wasn’t as good this time and I missed the info fest that talking to these guys usually presents. I was too ill. The guys in Karera seem to enjoy talking about their field and the last couple of times I have visited them I have come out with my brain stuffed with things about the gear and using it. This time they were testing my 27mhz rig and keen to have a chat about what I was going to do with it. They were as disappointed as I was.

Finally she took me to the beach and I sat in the sun for a while until it was time to go home. I managed to walk about twenty meters from the car and find a seat. We had hot chips. The chips at Toowoon Bay Beach are perfect. The water was perfect and a clean breeze blew in from the sea. As soon she got me home I crawled onto the couch and slept. DSCF8288 toowoon

I guess I will put Saturday here as well. I hope you don’t mind. How long have I been ill now? It feels like a very long time. I am ill all the time anyway but I do not mean that. I mean this illness on top of all the other. There is a wheeze with every breath. I feel very….stretched. Alice in Wonderland was on television tonight. It is very beautiful story with all the magic and madness. The idea today was to go to the shops. It took almost the entire day before I was well enough to change my clothes. The fridge and pantry need milk and bread and coffee and meat and vegetables and even some medication. Tomorrow perhaps.

Mum is taking her part of the vigil. He lives on and they have made him as comfortable as they can in hospital. His relatives spend time with him as well and he is much loved even if he is distant in a world bounded by morphine dreams. Their little dog wanders the house searching for him each time mum arrives home and he scents Bryan on her. Sometime she leaves it out in the yards but she is becoming concerned.

With the warmth of spring the snakes have returned and are more mobile and fractious than they would be later in the year as they are doing their parenting thing. The neighbors have had large snakes by their laundry. They get Coastal Taipans, Brown Snakes and Red-bellied Black Snakes to name a few of the really venomous ones and the pythons are large enough to eat the little dog without much effort. The price of having a little bit of heaven eh! I find the Red-bellied Blacks to be beautiful. There used to be a lot in Castle Hill.

When we were very small the house we lived at was in over-grown paddocks that would have to have been among the most snake infested places on earth. Those snakes were Tiger Snakes and I have never learned to think of them without a shiver.

The lizards have begun exploring the apartment here. They hunt for tracks and places to hide through the work room and often get trapped among the tarps and plastic packages in there. At this time of year there is a lot of crackling and shuffling going on just out of my sight. Very amusing!
