Bones and Antenna

Managed to get out of the house and take some photographs of the little place on Stella St on Christmas morning. Ate at Macdonalds but was forced to head home earlier by the illness thing. Most of the last six days or so have been spent in bed trying to sleep through harsh joint pain or that tummy bug. You have to figure that it isn’t just the crazy weather and maybe a mosquito borne virus has me on top of everything else. There is a sense of oppressiveness over the top of everything. Perhaps it echoes a hollowness that could be loneliness or just an outcome of unrelenting illness that includes pharmaceutical side effects and the symptoms of all those conditions. As I sit here I can barely lift my head to level up and view the screen. It feels as though I am breathing through a big bruise in my chest. It is a long way from the broken and bruised rib pain but it it is one of a group of things that fill the corners of existence. Hands hurt to type. That bruised feeling. Is it my heart?

The image that will be the basis for the next draw may have been discovered. It is another very old image from a throw away camera and the details are unfocused. Perhaps it can be printed out tomorrow. The illnesses seem to be working on my heart so after surviving to Christmas the next goal might be to finish a drawing again. Small steps.

Bought the movie Fury and watched it twice on the Android tablet for something to do. I cannot fit a second movie into the memory of the little device so I am stuck with one until I can get well enough to sit and concentrate moving it out of that memory into a flash drive. I watched a documentary about second world war German transport planes and it was laid back enough to give me some relief.

The antenna for the various radios have been slowly being brought up to scratch after the big 27Mhz CB one fell down. The phased array of the the 60cm band went up on a 6m steel mast right before Christmas and that job was done by me alone. It will have been a part of the reason that the following bout found my body so easy to invade. It was a big effort that literally dropped me but satisfying. The bigger antenna was rebuilt with stainless steel clamps and waterproofed joints. It had better and shorter coax added to it. That went on a J-mount for household eaves. I haven’t decided if the mounts are stable enough for a 6m long antenna but so far it looks fine. There has been no radio traffic on the UHF CB but the AM SSB CB has been busy . The ABC FM radio was a favored way to bring human conversation in here but for now they are all about cricket and I hate sports broadcasts. On the 27 I had good contacts with Melbourne, Tasmania and other parts of Victoria that I could identify so it is working well. As it should for the first time since it arrived. The big antenna seems a bit low and close to the roof but perhaps the tiles or wiring is acting as a ground plane.
