Wyong hospital deserves a chapter on its own. It has a huge part to play in the downfall of this life and many others like it.

As our student’s health declined he had been to the emergency room seeking help a few times. Each time they treated him as though he was torturing puppies and put him out with a discharge form saying they had found nothing.

Over the holidays that Christmas, after he had teeth removed from his softened gums, he had another event with his heart. The ambulance found him partially conscious and took him from where he lay directly to Wyong Hospital.

Again the hospital gave him a discharge form suggesting they had found nothing and then pushed him out the door.

They pushed him out at 3am. He was in shorty pajamas with no shoes or slippers! He was obviously handicapped and was going to struggle to cope at night with no wallet, no phone, no shoes and no transport.

Along the road by the hospital are small farms and the kind of wire fences to keep stock in. He limped to each fence post in turn and then supporting himself with the round post he stood fighting the pain in his chest and the pain of the new bruises on his feet before moving to the next.

e traveled more than a kilometer when a delivery driver picked him up and delivered him to his door several kilometers along the beach road. He spent the night lying on the sofa in a self induced trance doing yoga breathing exercises trying to take the pressure off his heart so it didn’t kill him.

This matter of a hospital claiming to find nothing needs to be dealt with. There are still some of the discharge documents lying around.

What a wondrous thing.

There are documents from the worthy professionals of Wyong Hospital claiming they found nothing. Of course they hadn't looked!

There were other tests and scans from (non hospital) technicians who found untreated diabetes, crushed and broken vertebrae in his neck, indications of a past motorbike accident which destroyed the left hip, shoulder, elbow and leg and which are imperfectly and painfully healed.

In the blood tests they found significant organ damage. At least once he was suffering septicemia from infected gums. The neurologist found signs of past head injuries and noted losses of comprehension.

Most damning of all are the heart tests. Congestive Heart Failure!

Later, when he escaped the ruinous grip of Wyong Hospital and managed to get into another hospital his heart required two triple bypasses. The surgeon demanded to know why help hadn’t been sought before!
